Leonie Bryant's Corner of Lemuria - Hermitage Art
The Hermitage Art Room attracts travellers from all over the world who have travelled with Sibyl, a twenty first century Enchanteur, who take pilgrims along the Soul Food Silk Road. The Art Room is just one of the sanctuaries where travellers have rested their weary bones. This was Leonie Bryant's (1942 - 2006) realm and her favourite place on the Silk Road. She is still here with us.

Strength
I posted this collage as my performance piece for the Gorgon at the House of Serpents.
The words on it may be hard to read. They are:
Strength is
daring to reach for the stars
singleness of purpose
never fearling your own uniqueness
knowing when to stand tall and when to bend
thriving no matter what surrounds you.

Milagro
Milagros are prayers of a sort, created in Mexico, and, I assume, other Latin American countries that are Catholic. They are often in the shape of the thing prayed for...eyes for good vision, hearts for safe journey through open heart surgery or love, etc...I loved this idea, and this hand is one of my visions of the milagro. Hands can plant all sorts of seeds, some of which I have listed around the border. May our hands be miracles of the everyday.

Gypsy Dance
I will be participating in a sketchbook round robin starting in September. Today I started looking around for a sketchbook to use. I really was looking for a good reason to buy a new book, but a small book called to me screaming, "USE ME!!" It's a little book I received free for being a member of the One Spirit book club. It says "One Spirit" on the cover. I thought it would be cool to pass this book around in the hopes that my fellow artists would feel the spirit through which we are all one.
I didn't mean to make my first entry in the book. I was just planning to get it ready. I put a message in the front cover and created a sign-in page. That's as far as I was planning on taking it...but it had other ideas. I noticed in front of me a print I had made of a painting I created a few months ago. I had scanned in the painting and printing it out on canvas paper. Then I embellished the image with more paint and beads and such. It sat there calling to me as if it were the image of the spirit that connects us all. The sketchbook could not leave my hands without this image inside.
Without knowing anything else, I began making an entry in this sketchbook. I am thrilled with the way it turned out...and I'm not usually one who is thrilled by my own art.

Hermitage Art Room
The Hermitage Art Room attracts travellers from all over the world who journey with Sibyl, the a twenty first century Enchanteur, who travels through cyber space, guiding travellers to quirky destinations. The Art Room is just one of the sanctuaries they rest their weary bones in. The fresh air and solitude inspires amazing work.
