Carousel Memories

Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com

Today I spent hours sitting with Darryl in the Oncology day ward as they dripped chemotherapy into his veins. As I sat I drew and we remembered the days when we were young and went to Luna Park together. The Carousel bought back memories of carefree days, of the giggle palace, mirror maze, river boat ride and old ghost train. These days we ride a far different carousel and wonder when the ride will end.

I cannot claim to have a visual memory Leonie - just the ability to access images that will kick start my drawings and remind me. I seem to need a guide but they do turn out quite authentically mine. This particular Carousel really turned out well. Like you I feel I managed to establish the character of the horses. It is so exhilarating when it works. There have only been a handful of sketches that I have discarded.
